Farwell PTA Meeting Minutes
1/15/08
6:30pm – 8:00pm
In attendance: Keri Forgues, Nicole Lussier, Linda St. Andre, Susan Basso, Dolly Long, Hamza Haji, Liane Jalbert, Leigh Lardieri, Louise Gagne, & Katie Krantz
6:30pm PTA President Keri Forgues welcomed all that were there and proceeded with the Pledge of Allegiance.
Principal’s Comment:
Linda said that she did some traffic control to help with the overall flow of traffic in the morning and at dismissal time. The police were called in to see if they could slow the traffic down and they did catch a few speeders. They will be coming back now and then.
Secretary’s Report
Approved by Liane, seconded by Katie with correction made that Kathy Martin is doing the work with spirit wear. Accepted unanimously.
Treasurer’s Report
Report was unanimously approved.
Old Business
Memorial fund:
It was suggested that there be no names mentioned, but that we keep the plaque generic and simple. As previously mentioned, we do either a tree in a quiet space; we just need to decide what we want and where we want it.
Pizza Fundraiser:
Pizza fundraiser will soon close and we have volunteers to help us on February 1, 2008 when the orders come in. If anyone has time, they are welcome to come in and lend a hand.
Upcoming Events:
Spaghetti Supper:
Scheduled for March 12, 2008. This might be a good time to have the spirit wear out so parents could see it, and order it if they would like something. Leigh brought up the fact of a silent auction maybe to take place during the spaghetti supper or even raffle the art mentioned by Susan.
The children will participate in fund for heart through their physical education classes.
New Business:
Shed Key:
There was some discussion about getting a key for the shed that PTA uses for storage.
Spirit Wear
Louise showed a new order form for the spirit wear. The new form is easier to read along with a place to put information like name and phone number.
Internet Safety
Kids use the internet, “My Space,” etc. Some parents have shown a concern. Discussed getting someone here to talk about internet safety, how to set your computer to protect kids from getting to those sites. Also get a “Safety with Strangers” person here like a police officer.
Student Council Request
Linda, talking for the Student Council, would like funds so they could get something like shirts for the Student Council and the 2 councilors. We are talking about 16 shirts. It was tabled.
Spring Raffle
Tabled.
Inform Teachers:
It was also mentioned that we need to let teachers know what the PTA is doing before we send them things to hand out.
