LHS ~ DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS ~ LRTC
October 3, 2008
Today is a White Day

The organization Healthy Androscoggen is looking for feedback on its program "Parents who Host Lose the Most" program. If you have a few moments, they would appreciate your input by taking the attached survey. The link to the survey is:

Beginning Monday, an SAT word of the day will be announced each morning.  You can win prizes for writing down each word.  If, on Friday of each week, you bring in a list of words for the week to Ms. Dowd in the Aspirations Lab, your name will be submitted for a raffle. The winners will be announced every Friday afternoon.  Prizes include gift certificates to local stores and restaurants, concert and movie tickets, and gas cards.  Your name will also be entered in a grand prize drawing at the end of each semester.  Start listening on Monday!

Parents of Seniors:
Urgent: for students filling out the common application: we have discovered in the past week that students are confused when trying to fill in information under the "academics" section of the Common Application.
Please follow these stepswhen filling out your counselor information and teacher information
Leave the email address for counselor and teacher blank
after you have completed the academic section, then click on "school forms" they will ask you to "invite" a "recommender". It will  notify you that your counselor has "opted to submit paper school forms"
continue to follow their directions for downloading necessary forms
see your guidance counselor or Ms. Dowd if you are confused

Check out the brand new college search web site from the voices of students. This site includes very honest "reviews" of colleges by students who go there, as well as videos and photos of the campus. The only downside I have found so far is that not ALL colleges are listed there, but I believe they are adding new schools all the time. www.unigo.com

On Monday, November 17 there will be a Financial Aid Evening for parents of Seniors featuring a speaker from FAME. This event will begin at 6:30pm and take place in room B109.
