Maine Schools of Nursing Scholarship-Spring Semester Dec 1 & Fall Semester is July 1
Three $1,000 scholarships to Maine residents who will be attending an accredited nursing program in Maine. Criteria: *Maine resident *GPA equivalent to a 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale * cover letter * 3 original letters of recommendation * must be enrolled in six credit hours or more per semester to be considered *must be enrolled in an accredited nursing associates or bachelors degree or a higher program * must enclose verification of
educational institute enrollment in the form of a letter or statement from the Registrar’s office.
Wal-Mart – Sam Walton Community Scholarship- Jan. 14, 2008
The 2008 Sam Walton Community Scholarship is available through www.walmartfoundation.org. Since 1981, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. has offered the Sam Walton Community Scholarship program to graduating high school seniors.

The APA is a non-profit public interest and research organization representing 41,000 planners, elected officials, and citizens involved with urban and rural planning issues. The University of Maine-Visual Arts Awards-Jan. 23, 2008
Available to qualified first-time undergraduate students. Awarded on the basis of merit and evidence of talents or accomplishment in the study of Studio Art, Art History or Art Education. Maine Section of the American Society of Civil Engineering – January 31, 2008
Two $2000 scholarships for two outstanding high school seniors who plan a career in civil engineering. The recipients will be selected based on: academic performance in high school, participation in extracurricular activities, letters of recommendation, and statement of interest in civil engineering. Clyde Russell Scholarship Fund – January 31, 2008
Created by the Maine Education Association through a trust established by the late Audrey Lewis. Award categories include Graduating High School Seniors Who Will Attend a Four-Year College, Graduating High School Seniors Who Will Attend a Maine Community College, Full or Part-Time College or Graduate Students, and Junior, Senior, or Graduate Students in a Teacher Preparation Program.
The Barking Foundation – Feb. 15, 2008
Is a private, non-profit foundation that provides grants for the accredited undergraduate education of meritorious State of Maine residents, based on their demonstrated financial need. Criteria: Applications typed or legibly handwritten, no e-mail or fax, incomplete applications will not be accepted, a copy of the student aid report (SAR) or the free application for federal student air (FAFSA) application.

American Lung Association of Maine Golf Privilege Card Scholarship-April 1, 2008
(3) $500 scholarships are awarded to graduating Maine high school seniors. Scholarships are awarded based on essay question answer, references and review of completed application. All applicants will be notified of their results in mid April.

Maine Family Credit Union – April 1, 2008
Awarding three scholarships: The Founders Scholarship, The Maurice Fontaine Sr., Scholarship and The Roger Bissonnette Scholarship.
Eligibility – Applicant must be a member of Maine Federal Credit Union, graduating high school senior, must be accepted as an incoming freshman to a two-year community college, four-year college or university or technical school and student must begin within one year of the award.

The Maine Society of Professional Engineers- May 31, 2008
Awarding two scholarships for high school seniors: The Robert E. Chute P.E. / Vernon T. Swain P.E. Scholarship –
You will need: application, scholarship recommendation of teacher (at least two), employer recommendation (optional), essay, transcript, attach SAT/ACT official score report.
All applicants must intend to earn a degree in engineering and to enter the practice of engineering after graduation.

Southern Maine Women’s Golf Association – July 15, 2008
Annual scholarship to deserving women who have participated in some aspect of the game of golf, and are planning to continue their education beyond high school. Consideration will be given to the applicant’s involvement in golf as well her academic achievements and extra-curricular activities. The applicant should live within the southern Maine area which includes all of York, Cumberland, Androscoggin and Sagadahoc counties, a portion of Oxford County including Bethel and points south, a portion of Kennebec County including Litchfield and points south, and the towns of Boothbay and Boothbay Harbor in Lincoln County.
