SCHOOL-TO-WORK (“STW”): The STW model prepares committed high school seniors to successfully engage the world of work and/or post secondary education. JMG seniors participate in a comprehensive program that includes 37 established competencies which promote career exploration, job attainment, employability skills, and leadership and personal skills development.

JMG graduates are workforce ready upon graduation. They have realistic expectations for the workplace and their future goals, have good work habits and know how to learn and perform on the job. JMG graduates understand the importance of: punctuality, teamwork, commitment, decision making, attendance, dependability, courtesy, appropriate attire, responsibility, and lifelong learning.

A unique feature of the STW model is a twelve-month follow-up service beyond graduation, during which the JMG teacher (the “Specialist”) will guide the graduates in their job search or even develop interview opportunities when appropriate. Throughout the twelve months, the Specialist supports the graduates’ employer/employee relationship through periodic visits and meetings to insure a smooth school-to-work transition and superior job performance. For those JMG graduates enrolled in post-secondary education, the Specialist supports those students through monthly contacts to ensure a successful transition and engagement throughout their first year in college.
