Our CyberFair
2001 Project is a web
site about the local attractions of Lewiston, Maine. On
this site the class focused on festivals celebrated
throughout the year in Lewiston. Some of these festivals
help the citizens of the community continue to practice
their cultural heritage. The Festival de Joie
helps our citizens enjoy the deep cultural ties to our
French Canadian ancestors. It was a finalist in the
CyberFair competition.
2001-2002
This year our CyperFair
2002 Project was to create a web site about products that
are made in the Lewiston- Auburn area. Mainely

community are shipped to all regions of the
world.

Three continents one classroom
was our theme for our global virtual classroom. We
collaborate with schools school in New Zealand and
Ireland . Our
Virtual Classroom
produced an awesome
collaborative web page. However that was not all we did.
Our class also participate in Project Citizen. We focused
on a school policy that we thought could be improved.
The"No Recess" for second and third quarters was the
topic we decided to research. We learned a lot about the
necessity of recess. Visit our web site to learn about
the value of recess. Our web site is called

Expanding
Obesity Shrinking Our Lifespan
This was a year of publication.
Our class colloborated with two published authors and
created wonderful books. Author Jan Plourde helped up
created the YABA DABA Do School Bus where third
grade students saved their perfect attendance recorded by
using their strong leg muscles and getting the bus to
school.
Martel's very own published
author, Dion, helped us create a colloborated story about
making life changes that help us be healthier and
happier. O is for Obesity was also a part of our
Project Citizen Civic Project. We presented our project
to the Lewiston School Board, at the Healthy Androscoggin
board meeting, and in Augusta in the Kids Consortium
sponsored competition for Project Citizen. Our project
focused on childhood obesity. It was titled Expanding
Obesity Shrinking our Lifespan. Mr. Dick Gleason from
Gleason media came to our classroom and aired our
keypoints on CNN radio !
Healthy Androscoggin donated bus
fare and tee-shirts for students to wear for their
Presentation in Augusta on May 19, 2006. Students
presented their proposal advocating for more physical
education instruction and year round recess weather
permitting.

Volunteer
Be A Responsible Citizen
Our web theme this year was
being resposible citizens. Students visited local areas
of interest where volunteers play an important part of
their organizations. A good citizen needs to be active in
his/her community. Good citizens give back to the
community by sharing his or her skills and time.
