Third Grade

2004-2005

This year we accomplished many Target Tests in Reading, Writing, Arithmetic, Science and Social Studies. They were difficult.

September to January our class was part of a global classroom. Our partner class was the International School in Dhaka, Bangladesh. We even created a web site comparing our two habitats. Our web site was East Meets West.

We also wrote books about what our pets teach us. Together we wrote 4 books about the lessons our pets teach us. These books are called Furry Friends Helping Others, What Pets Teach Us, Friends Stick Together, and Furry Friends.

auntmaryOur class also visited the Norlands in May. At the Norlands we baked a gingerbread from scratch and baked it in a wood cookstove. The wood stove cooks very fast and Aunt Mary had to keep turning the cake because one side of the oven cooks faster. The side next to the wood box is much hotter than the other side of the oven. The aroma told us when the cake was ready to come out of the oven. It was delicious, awesome, Ummm good. We created a slideshow of our fieldtrip. Click here to visit the Norlands Living History Museum.

We went to see the puppet show Aladdin at the Middle School in March.

In June the Camp Curtis staff came to our school for a fun filled day and we also went on a field trip to Camp Curtis in Stoneham, Maine.Mrs. Dawley's Quilt

In March we lost one of our teachers. Mrs. Dawley our third grade teacher died suddenly and both third grades became on class. We sewed a remembrance quilt for Mrs. Dawley and called it a Pocket Full of Memories.

Our third grade year went by very quick.
