2010-11 School CalendarJune 11, 2010Summer Break is upon us, but it's never too early to start planning for next year. The 2010-11 School Calendar is available here.
Voters Approve 2010-11 BudgetMay 11, 2010Lewiston voters have approved $51.2 million in education spending following yesterday's 2010-11 budget validation referendum. Voters approved the budget by a 419-76 margin. Visit the Budget page to view the complete budget.
2010-11 Proposed Budget PresentationMay 3, 2010Superintendent Levesque recently presented the proposed 2010-11 Lewiston Public Schools budget to the Lewiston City Council. Click here to view the presentation material.
2010-11 Pre-K RegistrationApril 30, 2010Lewiston Public Schools, in collaboration with Child Development Services (CDS), will have a pre-kindergarten program (4 year old program) at Geiger, Farwell, McMahon, Montello and Longley schools next school year. A series of informational meetings for parents will begin on May 5. Registration will be held from May 17-21, and a lottery to select students for the program will take place on May 28. 2010-11 Kindergarten RegistrationApril 8, 2010The Lewiston Public Schools Curriculum office has released the Kindergarten Registration and Screening schedule for the 2010-11 schoolyear. Registration will be held for one day at each elementary school during the first week of May. Kindergarten students must be 5 years old by October 15, 2010, and must be registered in the school district in which they reside. Click here for the complete registration schedule.
Supporting The LEF is as Easy as ABC and 1-2-3!March 26, 2010The Lewiston Education Fund promises to provide a permanent source of supplemental funding to support excellence and education in our schools. As a non-profit we need help from those that support our Mission and our largest support is our Community.Here is an easy opportunity to help the Lewiston Education Fund just by shopping. By using your Shaw's Reward card every time you shop Tuesday through Thursday or by using CharityBlast.com to shop on-line anytime at your favorite stores, donations will be made directly to Lewiston Education Fund. For Shaw's simply register your card on line by visiting Shaws.com, click on the Shaw's Cares box - upper right. This will bring you to another page. Click on Community Rewards then click on "shoppers." The next page requires you to enter your card number (starting with a 4) and phone number. You then enter the number of the organization you wish to support. The LEF number is 49001022874. You can check the status of the donations being accumulated. To shop on line at your favorite stores, simply enter CharityBlast.com and choose Lewiston Education Fund from the menu. LEF has been awarding grants to teachers since 2002. Some of the projects are still continuing today such as the Lewiston Middle School Aspirations Lab - Project S.T.A.R.T. LMS to Hold Sweet FundraiserJanuary 19, 2010Chocolat!, a celebration of chocolate decadence is being held at the Green Ladle, Lewiston High School on January 31st, 2010 to benefit Lewiston Middle School student activities. The event will feature area restaurants and confectioners competing for the titles of Chocoholics Dream, Candy is Dandy, and most Decadent Display. Winners will be determined by the combined effort of professional confectioners and event attendees.TICKETS ON SALE NOW Premier tickets: $10.00 advance purchase only (350 limit) White tickets: $8.00 in advance, $10.00 at the door Advance tickets available until January 29th at Lewston Middle School and the Green Ladle.
Request for Proposal: Safe Schools/Healthy Studentsjanuary 7, 2010Lewiston Public Schools, in collaboration with the Auburn School Department, is a recent recipient of a Safe Schools/Healthy Students Initiative grant and is seeking proposals for contracted services.Services are needed to deliver adolescent substance abuse treatment in the Lewiston and Auburn school systems, including delivering the Families in Action evidence-based program to middle school students, ages 11-14 and their families.
