LEWISTON STUDENTS WIN SBA BUSINESS PLAN COMPETITION By: Katherine E. Arno LEWISTON - Lewiston High School Junior Matt Bissonnette was named winner of the SBA Business Plan Competition coordinated by the Maine Small Business Development Centers (Maine SBDC), an SBA resource partner. Monica Lessard, a senior at Lewiston High School, won second place. In a ceremony today at Lewiston High School, Bissonnette was awarded a $500 U.S. Savings Bond provided by the Maine SBDC, headquartered at the University of Southern Maine. Maine SBDC certified business counselor Gregory Gould made the presentation. Maurice Ouellette presented Lessard a $100 U.S. Savings Bond from the Lewiston-Auburn Chapter of SCORE. |

Technology Showcased in Augusta A celebration of career and technical education in Augusta was held on February 11. Students and teachers from around the state had the opportunity to showcase their programs. The result was a dynamic and impressive presentation of what Maine Vocational and Technical Centers are doing. Lewiston sent representatives from the Computer Assisted Engineering Program and Culinary Arts. |

Two New Schools Being Developed Starting with the Class of 2007, Lewiston High School students will have an opportunity to enroll in one of two new schools. The School of Engineering Technology and The School of Health Science will provide students with a rigorous academic program that will prepare them for engineering careers or health careers requiring post secondary education at a college university, community college, or technical school. |

The premier certification for desktop applications is the Microsoft Office Specialist program, a globally recognized standard for demonstrating desktop skills with the Microsoft Office suite of business productivity applications. |

Students Build Homes Since last February, the carpentry classes at Lewiston Regional Technical Center have been involved in building a home at the corner of Birch and Horton streets in downtown Lewiston. |
