Marketing and Business Strategies: This two-year program is concerned with the formulation and analysis of marketing and business strategies.

Provide students the opportunity to . . .

• realize the importance of marketing planning within the organization and to develop the ability to define and analyze the marketing problems dealt with by organizations.

• understand analytical concepts and techniques relevant for marketing decision making.

• participate in a forum (both written and oral) for presenting and defending their own marketing decisions.

• understand that business strategy is the set of objectives and policies that collectively determine how a business positions itself to increase its returns and create value for its owners and stakeholders.

• realize that business strategy is concerned with answering two central questions “What business should we participate in?” and “How should we compete?”

• improve in the development of student’s communications and literacy skills.

Class Participation . . .

• informed and engaged participation is an essential part of this program and is expected of everyone.

• learning opportunities are maximized when you are actively engaged in the class.

• some key characteristics of valuable class participation are as follows:

• Relevance: Are your comments clearly related to what is going on in the class and the comments of others?

• Advancement: Does your comment move the class discussion forward?

• Fact-based: Have you used specific facts from readings to support your analysis?

• Logical: Is your reasoning consistent and logical? Do you use concepts from readings, projects and lectures correctly?

• Attendance: In order to participate, you must be in class; lack of attendance will result in a poor learning experience and could result in you being dropped from the program.

DECA Member

All Students must join DECA. DECA provides relevant and exciting opportunities for students to apply what they have learned at both state and national events. DECA is a student funded club therefore all students will be required to participate in fundraising throughout the year.

Work in School Store

Each student will be required to work in the school store. The store is a student run and managed identity.
