Nightline; "Lessons on Living" (An Interview with Morrie Schwartz)
In the third interview, Morrie has changed significantly since the beginning of his battle with ALS.   Please pay close attention to what Morrie has to say. Today's interview is vitally important. For tonight’s essay, please respond one of the following prompts:
1.      Overall, what message do you find particularly striking in the interview?
Explain why this has left an impression on you and why it is
important.  Discuss the lesson(s) that can be learned from this interview and its relevance to life. Give examples.
2.      One of Morrie's aphorisms is "Love each other or perish; love each or die."
On the surface, this may appear to be a little dramatic. However, think about it. Is Morrie right? If so, explain why this is important in today's climate. Again, provide real-life example(s) to support your position.  The field is wide open.
I encourage you to please type your responses. In terms of word length, do what it takes to write a provocative essay. Note: One could easily write well over a thousand words on either one of these topics. I don't expect a thousand words; however two-hundred words is far from adequate.
Yes, we will be reading your responses in class. So, do your best work, and practice reading your response aloud.

Mr. Bernier
Before we start reading “Tuesdays with Morrie” I would like for all of us to think about something.  Generally, as we get older, we accumulate more wisdom.
What is wisdom?  Wisdom is the knowledge gained through life experiences. (Usually it involves lessons of life.)  Assuming that we are always trying to grow and learn, every year that we live we gain more wisdom.  For example, fifteen year olds generally have more wisdom than ten year olds, forty year olds have more wisdom than thirty years olds, and sixty year olds have more wisdom than fifty year olds.  (You get the idea.)  Now for the main question: If you were to pass along one piece of wisdom (one of life’s lesson) to those who are younger than you, what would it be? State your “life’s lesson,” and explain its importance.  Yes, you can write your final copy on this paper, or you can submit a separate typed copy.  Thanks…Mr. B.
