There is an emphasis on the elements of art, principles of design, drawing and the technical aspects of various printmaking processes. Students will also be exposed to aesthetics, art criticism, and the history of printmaking.
Texts and Materials: Supplies are provided.
Expectations: The expectation is that students take an ambitious; self disciplined approach to growth and self-expression. Attendance is important, as this is a studio course in which learning happens through doing. Assessment is based largely on studio performance, the effort put forth and the quality of resulting projects. Students will create prints that show understanding of technique as a vehicle for expressing ideas. Students will increase their vocabulary regarding fine art and be able to express themselves intelligently to demonstrate knowledge. Students will be expected to keep a portfolio of finished prints. If students are absent, studio time must be made up either after
school or during an available study hall. This can easily be arranged with the instructor.
