Annual Parent Notifications 2025-2026

Each year, LPS sends home required parent notifications to share important information about student rights, available programs and services, academic assessments, and other federally mandated topics. To find notifications specific to your child’s school, please open the folder and go to the school section. You will also notice that each notification is available in the top seven languages spoken in our district. If you need assistance in another language, please contact your school for support.

This same communication will also be sent out by each school in Lewiston to ensure all families receive the information.

We encourage all families to review these notifications carefully to stay informed and ensure their child’s educational needs are fully supported.

Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)

Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)

The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) is a federal law that ensures all students have access to a high-quality education and helps close achievement gaps. ESSA gives states, districts, and schools flexibility to set goals, measure progress, and provide support where it’s needed most. It focuses on:

  • Ensuring equity and access for all students, including those who are disadvantaged, English learners, or have disabilities.
  • Holding schools accountable for student learning and growth.
  • Providing parents and families with clear information about how their children are performing.
  • Supporting schools with evidence-based programs and resources to improve student outcomes.

At LPS, we follow ESSA guidelines to provide every student with the opportunity to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.

Every Student Suceeds Act (ESSA) Con't

The primary source of federal aid for elementary and secondary education is the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) - particulary its Title I-A program. Title I-A authorized federal aid for the education of disadvantaged students. The ESEA was initially enacted in 1965 (P.L. 89-10), and was most recently comprehensively amended and reauthroized by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA; P.L 114-95).

LPS School-Parent Compacts

The School-Parent Compact is an agreement between the school, families, and students that outlines how we will work together to support student learning and success. It explains the responsibilities of the school, parents, and students, and highlights ways families can be involved in their child’s education. Please look for your child’s school-specific compact to learn more about how we can partner for student success.
