What is 21st Century?

The primary purpose of Maine’s 21st CCLC program is to provide school and community partnerships with funding to establish or expand programs that provide students in high-need, economically-disadvantaged communities with academic enrichment opportunities designed to complement their traditional school day curriculum.  In addition, these programs can provide a broad array of additional support services related to overall student health and well-being.

21st Century Enrichment Activities

The 21st Century Afterschool and Summer Programs provides safe, engaging, and enriching learning opportunities for students outside of the regular school day. The program offers academic support, hands-on enrichment activities, and social-emotional learning experiences that help students build skills, confidence, and a love of learning. Enrichment Clubs include STEM, Literacy, Physical Activity, Nutrition Education, Visual and Performing Arts, and Youth Leadership. In addition to supporting student achievement, the program encourages family engagement and partners with community organizations to create meaningful learning experiences that extend beyond the classroom.
